Three New Recovery Kentucky Centers Open
July 1, 2008
Staff with the Recovery Kentucky program is pleased to announce the opening of three new women’s recovery centers. The Cumberland Hope Community Center for Women in Evarts (Harlan County), the Brighton Recovery Center for Women in Florence and the Liberty Place Recovery Center for Women in Richmond all opened in June to receive women recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.
The program used in these 100-bed recovery centers are based on the Recovery Kentucky program model and were established to assist the state’s homeless population, many who remain homeless due to chemical dependency.
The Recovery Kentucky program is centered on peer support, daily living skills training, job responsibilities, “Recovery Dynamics” educational curriculum, challenges to practice sober living and the 12-step program from Alcoholics Anonymous. The centers take referrals from the Department of Corrections, local community agencies and voluntary admissions.
These new Recovery Kentucky programs join two other centers currently in operation: The Women’s Addiction Recovery Manor (W.A.R.M.) in Henderson and the Morehead Inspiration Center for Men in Morehead. Four other Recovery Kentucky centers for men, in Erlanger, Owensboro, Campbellsville and Paducah, are in either planning or construction.
The current five centers now in operation are open and accepting clients.
